Why take Gymnastics?
Besides being one of the most exciting and fulfilling of all sports, gymnastics helps to develop the whole person. Along with building a solid foundation, it builds strength, speed, grace, and balance. Gymnastics also promotes perseverance, pride of accomplishment, discipline and self-confidence.
Who are we and where are we located?
We are a state-of-the-art gymnastics training facility devoted to providing a safe and motivated environment that children of all ages can grow and develop in. We are located at 208-721 Vanalman Ave. Victoria B.C.
What kind of programs are available?
We offer special pre-school level classes for children and a parent ages 24 months - 36 months, and children in small groups from ages 36 months - 5 1/2 years (Gym-Bugs). We also offer numerous recreational programs and competitive programs for children of all other ages and all skill levels. Finally, we also offer birthday party packages and seasonal camps.
How do I register?
All classes are subject to enrollment, and are on a first come first served basis. A minimum five months enrollment is required in all programs. Registration is held for Fall classes in June-August. A second registration is held in January for the winter/spring sessions. Also, please feel free to
contact us for information.
Where can I park?
When dropping off and picking up your gymnasts from our facility, please park along Vanalman Avenue, or drop off behind the gym in the area marked Falcon Reserved. Parking at the back is limited.
Is there a viewing area?
To ensure your child's safety, parents and other children (not registered members) are asked to watch from an observation area located at the front desk. This is to avoid distraction so children can concentrate on gymnastics. Please do not block the doorways of the change rooms, because the gymnasts and coaches need to access through them at all times. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
What do the children wear?
Boys should wear a t-shirt and shorts and bare feet. Girls should wear the Falcon body suit (royal blue and white) with bare feet. Please ensure that clothing is not too loose for boys). Hair should be tied back and no jewelry is allowed.
Where do I get a leotard?
We have our Falcon royal blue with white V leotards available for sale at the centre. Sizes are in small, medium and large. These can be purchased at the front desk.
What happens if my child misses a class?
Making up for lost time in the gym will only be available for illness and family emergencies. Class time must be scheduled ahead of time, through the front desk, in order to accommodate your child and other gymnasts.
How do I withdraw from a program?
A minimum five months enrollment is required in all programs. Withdrawal after the five month period requires 30 days written notice. Any pre-payments after that will be returned. Since the program is designed for ten months, we encourage the students to stick with the programs, as the long term results are very beneficial.
Can my child bring a friend?
For a small fee, your child can bring a friend to join their class. Please make arrangements by contacting us prior to bringing the friend. This ensures that we have enough room that day to accommodate an extra person.
Are there classes for boys?
Yes, we do offer classes for boys only or co-ed classes. Enrollment depends on how many children are registered
How large are the classes?
Our maximum class size is eight students. Classes are instructed by one fully certified coach and depending on class size, age, and ability, an assistant junior coach is assigned to ensure that each student is constantly supervised. Our recreational supervisor is available at all times to oversee and facilitate the smooth running of all classes.
Are the coaches qualified?
Our coaches are a minimum of 16 years old and are required to hold at least the Level 1 coaching certificate through the National Coaching Certification Program of Canada.
If my child shows potential as a competitive gymnast, what training can you provide?
Your child would be evaluated and then placed in the Kids-in-Progress (KIP) class. After one year of KIP training, they would be re-evaluated to determine if they are ready to set up to the pre-competitive level of gymnastics. Progress greatly depends upon the age and maturity of the child as well as parental support.
My child is very advanced for his/her age. Should I enrole him/her in the next age category?
We recommend that all children begin in the appropriate age category. Our instructors will ensure that you child is appropriately challenged by the content of the class and if they feel it is appropriate, the coach will recommend that your child move into a different level.
